Erika, closer to return

Erika, closer to return

The red-and-white striker has joined the group this week and she could be part of the call-up for Sunday’s league match in the field of Rayo Vallecano

The return of Erika Vázquez to the field is closer. The striker of Athletic Club has started training with the group this week and could be an option to enter the list of summoned for the match against Rayo next Sunday (11.00 am) in Madrid. The player from navarra has been KO for two months since she was injured on the third matchday of the Primera Iberdrola league in Paterna. The medical report then indicated a medium-tarsus sprain with bone contusion at the base of the second metatarsal of the right foot. The red-and-white has in first instance immobilized the food and little by little she has been able to realise continuous running until arriving at the last phase of her recovery.

This week, Erika is training with the group as usual and despite still feeling some discomfort, is optimistic about her set-up. This morning she has participated in the match to all the field that the lionesses have exercised. In the second day, Erika was the unquestionable protagonist achieving a double victory in Lezama against Madrid CFF before being injured a week later in Valencia. At the age of 36, and close to 400 games as a red-and-white (381 to date), Erika Vázquez continues being a reference both in the dressing room and on the field.
