“We have a high morale”

Ander Capa affirms that the “morale is high” in the team after winning in Pamplona and calls for focus in their duel with Granada CF to keep the streak of good results alive

Ander Capa appeared before the press this morning prior to the match corresponding to Matchweek 15 of LaLiga Sanander, where Athletic will welcome Granada CF at San Mamés. The defender from Portugalete, when asked about their first away victory this season, stated that the team is in an enviable position: “We are on cloud nine. It had been a long time since we last won on the road and those three points lifted our spirits. Our morale is high right now.”

On Sunday, the lions will host the match against one of the three newly-promoted sides, who happen to be one of the surprise teams this season. Even so, Capa admitted being ready for them: “They’re demonstrating they are good team, even getting to lead the table for a while. They are newly promoted but powerful in attack, with good headers. We mustn’t lose our focus to prevent Granada from creating dangerous opportunities.”

As part of the defence which has conceded the fewest goals, Capa acknowledged that his side’s good spell is due to the fact that “something is being done well” and they are trying to give a hundred percent in all fixtures: “We’re always the same players and we try to do what we know: play the way we want and keep our supporters happy. That’s top priority.”

As regards the squad’s objectives, Capa said they had been set at the beginning of the season and once the first half of the league is over, they will be specified more precisely, but the nearest aim is to “go to San Mamés and pick up the three points.”
