Damaris and Maite Oroz, an inseparable couple

Damaris and Maite Oroz, an inseparable couple

The two red and white midfielders have been in the starting line-up for all of the 12 matches this season and have already passed the 1,000-minute mark

In and out of the field, Damaris and Maite Oroz are an inseparable couple. Both are midfielders, although with different profiles. Both arrived to Lezama five years ago. Both have played in the youth categories of the Spain national team and continue to progress in the New Promises category. And both have played in the 12 matches that Athletic Club has played this season, in which they surpassed the mark of 1,000 minutes of play last weekend (1,039, Damaris and 1,021, Maite).

“When I have a problem in midfield, I give the ball to Maite and that is it, but when I have a problem out of field, I know I can always count on her.” This is how Damaris Egurrola (20) exemplifies the great complicity with Maite Oroz (21). Villacampa has entrusted them with the midfield throughout the season and the player from Arteaga even went as far as to score; it was in the 4-1 victory at Vallecas. On the other hand, Oroz is enjoying himself again after a year almost without playing due to a serious knee injury.

Friends above all, and roommates when the team travels abroad, the two Athletic Club players are young and have a great future, and are an example for the young players who dream of making it to the first team. Damaris and Maite won the league title in the 2015/2016 season; now they are fighting in an increasingly competitive league to create play and hold the team in midfield. They complement each other perfectly, as shown in the following video.
