Erika will play her tenth match in San Mamés while Villacampa will make his debut in the stadium in charge of Athletic Club.
With less than 24 hours before the match in San Mamés, the feelings that Erika Vázquez and Ángel Villacampa have conveyed is that the team is ready and will not spare a drop of effort. The head and coach of the first women’s team, explained their feelings during the press conference on the eve of the match that will face tomorrow from 12.00 pm, on the fifteenth day of Primera Iberdrola, Athletic Club against FC Barcelona in La Catedral. A date that will serve to close the first round of the championship and for which a great atmosphere is expected.
The midfielder is not new to these games as she will play her tenth match at the stadium; the third one at the new San Mamés. “We are at a moment when the team is doing well, at the best moment that this match could catch us. We are aware that it is going to be a complicated clash, because they have a very strong team in all their lines. It will be a special day to be able to step on San Mamés again for all of us, to start the year on an incredible field like ours. We must be very concentrated and know well what we have to do. Anything can happen during the match. I personally see playing in San Mames as a prize. In addition, supporters always help and it’s a great feeling”.
The one who will make his debut in La Catedral is Ángel Villacampa. The zurigorri coach is looking forward to the match against the undefeated leader of the domestic competition. “San Mamés is an incomparable setting and a real luxury. We feel privileged to have this opportunity and we are prepared, because we want to meet the expectations. It’s clear that it’s a complex match since FC Barcelona’s numbers are very good, but we have to have our own identity and we will not let them be the protagonists. We must not save anything for another match and we have to give our best tomorrow. For me it’s such a special game as significant as a title.
