Athletic Club and Valencia CF will try to clinch the first win of the year tomorrow at 11.00 a.m. at Lezama

Primera Iberdrola is back at Lezama and tomorrow Sunday, at 11.00 a.m., Athletic Club will play against Valencia CF in the eighteenth matchweek. The team from Valencia has 14 points and the need to escape from the bottom positions of the table. They have not won since their seventh match in the domestic competition, what means that the Lionesses have to face another team in need and eager to win, the same situation they were placed in last week against Madrid CFF.

In the first league fixture both sides played this season, Irene Ferreras’ players managed to prevail 2-0 at Paterna. The Valencian squad, after a good start, has not won the three points in any of the last nine league matches, not being able to get more than a draw last Sunday against Espanyol on their own pitch.

Valencia CF will be a tough opponent, not only because of the need of winning they have, but also because of the quality of their squad. Without a doubt, their best weapon is forward Mari Paz Vilas. She is the top scorer in the team and, after her seventh goal on Sunday, she surpassed David Villa and equalled Kempes as the highest goal scorer in the history of Valencia CD, with 130 official goals.

Red-and-white coach Ángel Villacampa, given the numerous injuries the team are suffering from, has called up reserve team players Irene Oguiza and Amaiur Sarriegi one more time.

So, the match day squad for the fixture against Valencia CF is made up of the following 18 players: Andrea de la Nava, Ainhoa Tirapu, Andrea Sierra, Ainhoa Álvarez, Ainhoa Moraza, Garazi Murua, Damaris Egurrola, María Díaz, Maite Oroz, Oihane Hernández, Eunate Arraiza, Lucía García, Erika Vázquez, Ane Azkona, Vanesa Gimbert, Oihane Valdezate, Irene Oguiza and Amaiur Sarriegi.
