Two of the best defenses, face to face
Athletic Club and Atlético de Madrid, will face each other on Sunday at San Mamés and they are the third and second least beaten teams so far in the League
After 27 games played, Athletic Club remains one of the teams with the lowest scoring skill (23 goals) in the five major European leagues. The red-and-white team is in the fifth position in this ranking led by Real Madrid, with 19 goals scored, and in which Atletico de Madrid, the team visiting San Mamés this Sunday, is second. The Colchonero team has conceded 21 goals so far in La Liga, a record it shares with Liverpool and Reims, the only teams that have so far surpassed Athletic in defensive security.
The clash on Sunday will therefore pit two of the most solid defensive units at the Santander League against each other, who are also used to keep their net clean. Unai Simón has now gone ten times without conceding a goal so far this season, while Jan Oblak has already scored 11 times, so San Mamés will have an interesting clash between the posts.
The Lions will be looking for La Catedral to follow up on their last two consecutive victories at La Liga. Last season, also on Matchday 28, Athletic managed to beat the Colchoneros thanks to the goals scored by Iñaki Williams and Kenan Kodro.
