The midfielder was a member of the subsidiary team and now has become a player of the first team for the next three seasons
Athletic Club and Oihane Valdezate (10-04-2000) have reached an agreement for the renewal of the contract of the player from Trapaga. The midfielder was until now a member of the subsidiary team, now she will be playing as full member of the first team until June 2023. Following the footsteps of striker Ane Azkona and defense player Oihane Hernández, the midfielder will be wearing the red-and-white t-shirt for the next three seasons.
The football player from Bizkaia began the current season with a record at the subsidiary led by Iraia Iturregi, although Villacampa chose to give her the t-shirt, with the number ’26’ and asked her to train and follow the dynamics and training sessions of the first team. The midfielder played four matches at Reto Iberdrola in the first months of the competition, along with her participation at Primera Iberdrola. Due to the injuries and leaves of some of the players, Oihane had the chance to take a step forward and take part in more matches.
Valdezate has played 21 official matches this season, making his debut in the Copa de la Reina and she has been captain of the team in 8 matches held in San Mamés. She has also managed to make her debut as striker in the First Division. She did it in the victory by 1-4 against Rayo Vallecano in the 10th round.
It has been barely a year since her debut in the top category, in April 2019, when she played her first two matches. Her height (1.80cm) allows her to dominate the aerial game and makes her a valuable asset in containing the ball in the midfield. She began playing for Pauldarrak before joining the second red-and-white team in 2016. At the age of 20, Oihane Valdezate is already a lion of the present and future of the club.
