Unai Simón renews contract until 2025
The goalkeeper’s new contract does not contain a release clause
Athletic Club and Unai Simón have come to an agreement to extend the keeper’s contract with the Club until June 30, 2025. The shot-stopper from Vitoria-Gasteiz was one of the team’s most consistent performers in 2019-20, and the Club has not included a release clause in his contract, which was signed this evening in Ibaigane.
The news comes at a very special time for Simón. He made his debut as a lion two years ago today, and this very morning he was called up to the national team for the first time in his career. Spain coach Luis Enrique deciding to select the keeper after an excellent 2019-20 season under Athletic coach Gaizka Garitano. Lezama graduate Simón also came third in the 2019-20 Zamora Trophy, behind Thibaut Courtois and Jan Oblak.
Unai Simón will appear before the media in a press conference that will take place tomorrow.
