Twenty-one years separate Athletic Club Women’s current centre-back pairing
A 21-year age difference has not prevented centre-backs Vanesa Gimbert and Naroa Uriarte from forming a partnership which has helped propel Athletic Club to third in the Primera Iberdrola table.
Curiously, Vanesa, born in 1980, is the oldest player in the competition, while Naroa, born in 2001, is one of the youngest. In fact, when Gimbert made her top-flight debut for Levante in 1999, Naroa had not even been born yet.
Despite the age-gap, the two players seem to have a telepathic understanding on the pitch. So far this season, both have played every minute of every game as Athletic remain unbeaten in their first three Primera Iberdrola matches.
