De Marcos becomes the 19th player to reach such figure with Athletic
Óscar de Marcos has played 400 official matches for Athletic Club after coming on for the final 15 minutes at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez against Getafe CF. The full-back, 31, joins a select group of 19 players to have appeared in 400 or more official matches as a lion.
De Marcos made his Athletic debut against Young Boys at the Suisse Wankdorf Stadium in Bern on August 6, 2009, playing as a starter in the Lions’ 1-2 victory in a Europa League qualifier.
Twelve seasons later, the player from Alava has reached the important figure of 400 official matches with Athletic. Along with Iker Muniain (432), he is one of only two footballers in the current squad to achieve this feat. Athletic’s no.18 has notched up 32 goals across LaLiga, the Copa, the Europa League and the Super Cup.
