The Athletic Club Foundation has published a total of 7,000 copies of the book “Ser Williams” (Being Williams), the moving story of a boy with an intellectual disability who plays in Athetic Club’s iconic red-and-white shirt.
On this occasion the baton has been passed on to Igor Porset Domingo, a player from our Genuine team who was born with Williams Syndrome.
In this way, the Foundation is able to give a voice to and help raise awareness about the reality of people with intellectual disabilities, while demonstrating their worth and showing that, like Oscar and Ainhoa, Igor is also a great ambassador for the values of Athletic Club.
Request for books
The books, which are published in Basque and Spanish following the guidelines for Easy Reading texts, will be distributed to schools, to the youth squads of Athletic Club’s partner teams, and to bookshops in Bilbao.
Local schools and training centres, bookshops and individuals can request copies by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. The Foundation will distribute “Ser Williams” free of charge. The final part of the book contains a QR code so that anyone who wants to collaborate with the Foundation’s social projects can do so easily and safely.
Similarly, anyone who would like to become a member of the Foundation by making an annual donation of €50 can do so easily HERE.
All new members will receive a Fundaziozale card which also makes them members of the Foundation’s Club Athletic. Added to that they will enjoy a number of unique advantages, as well as a welcome pack full of gifts.
