Ángel Villacampa’s farewell message

Ángel Villacampa’s farewell message

The former Athletic Club Women head coach says goodbye

It has been a privilege to coach at Athletic Club and it has been a dream to belong to such a great institution. I would like to have paid back my time with a trophy or more success on the pitch, but it was not to be. However, I know we gave it everything we had from the first minute and nobody will be able to challenge our professionalism.

Although all goodbyes are sad, I would like to leave with the memories of the good moments we’ve had since we arrived and won the Garrazana trophy up until today. I know that a great part of it will be overshadowed by the last few matches, but I’m calm and satisfied in the knowledge that the players, especially the youngsters, have grown as footballers. I have come to learn and understand first-hand the incalcuable importance and value of Lezama.

Finally, I cannot leave without thanking Joseba Aguirre for the trust he placed in me when he put me in charge of the team in July 2019. I would also like to thank the president for his always treating me impeccably well. Of course, I can’t forget about all my coaching staff and above all the players, with whom I’ve shared so many great moments. In summary, ESKERRIK ASKO to all the Athletic Club family, your presence in the stands has really been missed during this pandemic.
