Athletic Club Women striker Ane Azkona has been given the green light to return to competitive action.
The no.16 ruptured her cruciate knee ligament in June 2020 during a post-season training session and has been sidelined ever since.
After months of rehabilitation, the striker is finally back in full training with the rest of the full team squad.
Azkona is available for selection now and could be involved in a Primera Iberdrola fixture for the first time since March 1, 2020 -the date of last season’s final official match.
The lioness began last season with the reserves but was promoted to the first team where she scored five goals in 20 appearances, becoming one of the side’s most important attacking players.
At the beginning of April, she signed a new deal keeping her at the Club until June 2023.
Azkona’s return is excellent news for the Lionesses as they move into the second half of their 2020-21 campaign.
