First Ibero-American Week for the Protection and Good Treatment of Children in Sport
Athletic Club’s ATERPE programme presents the “Aterpe Recognition” competition and organises a series of activities to mark Child Abuse Prevention Day
Through the ATERPE Child Protection Programme, Athletic Club has organised the first Ibero-American Week for the Protection and Good Treatment of Children in Sport, which will be held between Monday, April 26 and Friday, April 30. This is a series of awareness-raising, training and discussion activities organised to mark Child Abuse Prevention Day on Sunday, 25 April.
The scheduled activities include various local and international meetings on topics related to the subject, such as “Challenges in Protecting Children and Adolescents in Latin America” (international online webinar), “Working Platforms for Protecting Children in Sport” (national online webinar), and “Challenges in Protecting Children in the Basque Country. Sport as a Good Practice” (in person at San Mamés). Athletic Club will provide more information on the full programme at a later date.
Aterpe Recognition
Similarly, Athletic Club presents the first edition of the ATERPE RECOGNITION competition for good practices in protecting and treating children in sport: sport as a place of refuge. To take part, send an e-mail to [email protected], fill in the form attached to the rules, and attach a sample (drawing, photograph or similar) of the good practice you are submitting to the competition. The competition is aimed at sports organisations, individuals (professionals, volunteers), sports clubs, out-of-school activities, leisure activities, public institutions, social organisations, foundations, federations and cooperatives.
The period for submitting good practices is open from March 26 until Thursday, April 15. The awards ceremony will take place on April 30 at San Mamés and will be divided into the following categories:
- Best practices in the Basque Country.
- Best practices in Spain.
- Best practices in Latin America.
- Commendations: 3 additional commendations to the 3 main categories.
