The Athletic Club travelling squad is now in Seville. They will use the next three days to prepare for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad at La Cartuja (21:30 CEST).
The team left Bilbao Airport at 12:30 on Thursday morning, and were accompanied by a sea of red and white as they set off from the Lezama training centre.
Marcelino García Toral has taken the entire first-team squad, although Oier Zarraga will not able to play due to injury. And of course, Aritz Aduriz has joined the Lions after being invited to represent members of the squad that reached the final back in 2020 but are unable to go to Seville.
These are the first-team footballers who have travelled to Andalusia: Unai Simón, Jokin Ezkieta, Iago Herrerín, Jon Morcillo, Unai Nuñez, Iñigo Martínez, Yeray Álvarez, Mikel Vesga, Ibai Gómez, Unai López, Iñaki Williams, Iker Muniain, Álex Berenguer, Dani García, Iñigo Lekue, Oihan Sancet, Yuri Berchiche, Óscar de Marcos, Oier Zarraga, Asier Villalibre, Ander Capa, Raúl García, Peru Nolaskoain, Mikel Balenziaga, Iñigo Vicente and Unai Vencedor.
Club president, Aitor Elizegi, and director of sport, Rafa Alkorta have also travelled with the group. On Thursday evening, the team will train behind closed doors at the Sevilla FC’s training complex.
