Global Pride Day 2021

Global Pride Day 2021

San Mamés was lit up in rainbow colours to mark Global Pride Day

On June 28, San Mamés lit up in the colours of the rainbow flag to celebrate Global Pride Day. The day commemorates the events which occurred in a New York a pub called the Stonewall Inn on June 28 1969, where the LGBT community rebelled against a police raid and ended up taking to the streets to protest against the US government’s policy on sexual diversity.

On June 28 of the following year, the first gay pride march took place spontaneously on the streets of New York, followed by Los Angeles and subsequently by cities all over the world.
