‘Iker Muniain. A ball, a badge, a life’
A biography of the Athletic captain’s life and career was launched at San Mamés
On Tuesday evening at San Mamés, Athletic Club captain Iker Muniain unveiled a biographical book of his life entitled ‘Iker Muniain. A ball, a badge, a life’. The biography was written by Patxi Xabier Fernández and published by Panenka.
The book looks at key events in Iker’s life and career, from his Athletic debut as a teenager, his recovery from two serious knee injuries to becoming captain of his boyhood club.
Several representatives of the Club were present at the book launch, including: club president Aitor Elizegi; board members Mikel Martínez (vice president), Joana Martínez and Iker Goñi; first-team staff and players led by head coach Marcelino García Toral; footballers from Athletic Club Women along with head coach Iraia Iturregi; directors of sport Rafa Alkorta and Joseba Agirre; ex head coach Ernesto Valverde; as well as ex-club president Fernando García Macua and other former board members.
Several former Athletic players and former teammates of Iker’s were also in attendance, such as: José Ángel Iribar, Andoni Goikoetxea, Dani Aranzubia, Carlos Gurpegui and Markel Susaeta.
