Nico Williams earns first-team contract

After starting in Thursday’s Copa match against FC Barcelona, Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has been rewarded with a first-team contract due to meeting certain targets established in his previous agreement.

Williams’ new senior deal includes an improved salary and increase in his transfer release clause.

Nico has continued to develop since making his first-team debut last season, against Real Valladolid at San Mamés. So far the young forward has made 27 appearances and scored three goals for Athletic. His first strikes came recently, netting his first two against Mancha Real in the Copa before grabbing the winner in the Supercopa semi-final against Atlético Madrid.
