A demanding April for Athletic

A demanding April for Athletic

The Lions have home games against Celta and Atlético Madrid either side of a visit to Cádiz CF at the Nuevo Mirandilla

Athletic Club have three LaLiga games left in April, matches that will have a huge say in the Lions’ aspirations. To to continue their run of three straight games without defeat, they will first have to beat RC Celta at San Mames this Sunday at 18:30 CEST.

The Galicians sit in mid-table and have gone four consecutive games without a win.  It is a match that both sets of fans tend to enjoy together, so a good atmosphere is guaranteed in Bilbao on Sunday.

After taking on Celta, the Lions will play a midweek fixture against Cádiz CF (Thursday May 21, 20:00 CEST). Cádiz are in the fight to avoid relegation and will be eager to pick up three important points at the Nuevo Mirandilla, a stadium where Sergio González’s side have only managed two victories this season. In last season’s edition of the fixture, Athletic won 0-4 thanks to goals from Alex Berenguer (x2), Unai López and Iñaki Williams.

Finally, and after the weekend break on April 24, Atlético Madrid visit San Mamés (Saturday 30 April, 21:00 CEST). A LaLiga classic between two giants of the competition. What’s more, Los Leones are undefeated in their last three homes matches against Los Colchoneros with two wins and a draw.

In addition, the match will be extra special as Jennifer Zietz will be in attendance to pick up her 2022 One Club Women Award.
