ZOOM I San Mamés tribute to Jennifer Zietz
The Cathedral saluted our 2022 One-Club Woman during half-time of Athletic vs Atletico
San Mamés experienced another of its magical nights on Saturday. On the one hand, the Lions managed a brilliant victory against Atlético Madrid taking them closer to Europe. And on the other hand, more than 43,000 people gathered in the stands of The Cathedral and paid tribute to Jennifer Zietz, winner of the 2022 One-Club Woman award.
Erika Vázquez and Daniela Agote, an academy player, presented the One-Club Woman trophy to the German player during half-time of the match between Athletic and Atlético. Zietz, who was greeted with applause from the San Mamés stands in recognition of her impressive career with Turbine Potsdam.
The former midfielder had already enjoyed a warm reception at Lezama on Saturday morning before the start of Athletic Club Women’s match against UDG Tenerife, with captain Garazi Murua giving her an Athletic home stripwith Zietz and the no.14 on the back, the same number she wore during her 17 seasons with the German team.
