Unai Nuñez joins RC Celta on loan
The initial loan is for one year, but Athletic Club and Celta can extend it for the 2023/24 season, in which case a compulsory purchase clause will be activated
The deal for defender Unai Nuñez to go on loan to RC Celta Vigo for the 2022/23 campaign has been completed. It includes an option to extend his stay for a further season. During the loan, Celta will cover all of the centre-back’s contract.
At the end of 2022/23, each club can choose to continue the loan for a second campaign. Doing so will trigger a compulsory purchase clause with a fee of €7 million, plus certain bonuses, for the 2024/25 season. In addition, Athletic Club will retain a percentage of any future sale if the player subsequently leaves Celta.
The centre-back, who has a contract with Athletic until 2025, has made 116 first team appearances for the Lions, scoring three goals.
