Morcillo, who had his contract expiring this year, has played in five of the six matches this season
Athletic Club and Jon Morcillo have agreed to extend their contract for one more season. The striker, who has 48 first team appearances to his name, has played in five of the last five league games.
In line with the Board of Directors, Morcillo has accepted the economic approach proposed by Athletic Club based on a salary structure with a variable component, which will be linked to the fulfilment of certain objectives.
The winger is facing his third season in the top flight, where he has made 48 appearances. His best campaign was his debut season, in 2020-21, in which he played 36 games, including the two SuperCup matches that the lions won under Marcelino. In the same year, he scored against Osasuna and Valladolid, where he was on loan last season and won promotion from the Liga SmartBank.
"I'm proud to continue for another year at the club I've always wanted to be at and which has given me everything. The aim is to repay the trust they have placed in me with performance on the pitch", said the player from Amorebieta.
Jon Morcillo will hold a press conference this Wednesday afternoon at Lezama.
