Three Cubs made their official debuts with the first team this year: Artola, Adu Ares and Paredes
Three players made their debut for the senior team this calendar year. Below, we take a look back at the moment when those players pulled on the red-and-white jersey for the first time.
Juan Artola, currently on loan at Burgos CF, was the first to make his debut. The young forward came of the bench in the 78th minute during Athletic Club's Copa del Rey round-of-32 clash with Atlético Mancha Real on January 6, 2022.
The rest of the debuts have taken place this season. Malcom Adu Ares played a total of 10 minutes in our LaLiga 2022/23 Matchday 1 fixture against RCD Mallorca on August 15, 2022. Despite the 0-0 draw, it was a dream day for Adu, who received a round of applause from the new Standing Section during a season opener at San Mamés.
The defender Aitor Paredes became a Lion on August 29, 2022 when he came of the bench during the 0-4 win over Cádiz CF at the Nuevo Mirandilla. The Lezama graduate, who has played for all of Athletic Club's youth teams, got his first tast of senior football at San Mamés against Rayo Vallecano in September.
