Athletic meets with international journalists ahead of Basque Derby

Athletic Club hosted foreign journalists at San Mamés and Lezama in an initiative organised by LaLiga

The magnitude of the Real Sociedad-Athletic Club derby has led to LaLiga organising an international press trip to cover it. This midweek, Athletic first-team players and staff took part in a series of activities with the visiting journalists.

Around a dozen foreign journalists met Managing Director Jon Berasategi to learn about more Athletic Club, with a special emphasis on the fact Athletic is the first club in LaLiga Santander to celebrate its 125th anniversary.

The first meeting took place on Wednesday evening at the Reale Arena, with the other professional Basque Clubs - Real Sociedad, CA Osasuna, SD Eibar and Deportivo Alavés - also participating.

On Thursday, there were two more events, this time in Biscay. On the one hand, a round of interviews with first-team players at Lezama, and on the other, a two-and-a-half-hour tour of San Mamés and the AC Museum, along with a showcooking experience in the stadium's VIP area.

Borja González, Chief Business and Innovation Officer, and Iker Callejo, Head of Stadium Operations, made sure the press group were fully informed and felt at home. The journalists were impressed with Athletic's facilities and particularly interested in our unique philosophy, something which many of them already knew about in great detail.

The visiting media outlets were: Eleven (Poland), GlobalData - Sportel (United Kingdom), The Times (United Kingdom), The Citizen (South Africa), Yallakora (Egypt), LaLiga Loca (Norway), NDTV (India), Zhibo 8 (China), Wowow (China), SportsNavi (Japan), AXIOS (United States), MedioTiempo (Mexico), Globosporte (Brazil) and Winsports (Colombia).
