Villalibre renews contract until 2025

The striker, whose contract was set to expire in June, signs a new two-year extension with Athletic Club

Athletic Club striker Asier Villalibre has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal, keeping him in Bilbao until June 2025.

The 25-year-old, whose previous agreement was going to run out at the end of the current season, first came to Lezama 11 years ago to play for the Under-15s.

The footballer signed the agreement on Friday morning at San Mamés in the presence of Club president Jon Uriarte  and Mikel González, general director of football.

"Extending my contract with Athletic, the team I support, brings me great joy and fills me with pride," Asier told the Club.

"I've been here since I was young. There have been some good moments and others not so good. But I feel the Club trusts me, just as I trust in myself and in Athletic, which is the most important thing."

Villalibre has made 103 first-team appearances, scoring 13 goals. His most important strike was the one that took the Lions into extra-time against FC Barcelona during the 2021 Spanish Super Cup, a match Athletic went on to win 3-2 - the most recent silverware in Club history.

What's more, he was a prolific goalscorer at youth level, netting 38 times for Bilbao Athletic.
