Valverde: "We want to get back to winning ways in LaLiga"

Ernesto Valverde says "moral is high after beating Valencia" while insisting the clash with Celta is a must-win match

Ernesto Valverde said Athletic Club have to capitalise on their Copa victory against Valencia CF by ending their winless streak in LaLiga.

The Lions reached a fourth consecutive Copa semi-final after beating Valencia 1-3 on Thursday night, but they are without a win in LaLiga since the competition resumed in December.

"We have to come away from this game with something," Valverde said at his pre-match press conference on Saturday afternoon.

"We've gone four league games without a victory and we want to get back to winning ways. Morale is high after beating Valencia CF away from home.

"It's a different competition but it shows we can beat a difficult team - and away from home too. Tomorrow's game is an opportunity to make up for what happened against Real Madrid."

According to Valverde, Celta are in a difficult situation with an "incredible need" for points, but they have the potential to do some damage.

He added: "The teams at the bottom are pushing hard but we're also playing for something.

"Celta have suffered setbacks, but they approach games well and create a lot of chances. We have to stay in the game and impose our style of play.

"Because of the situation they're in, they'll leave nothing out there, and neither will we. There's going to be a lot of pressure in Vigo because the points are worth a lot, but we want the win."
