Athletic Club Women centre-back Bibiane Schulze, 24, has signed a two-year contract extension, tying her to the club until June 30, 2025.
The defender has become an important player for Iraia Iturregi and her recent form led to a call-up to the Spanish national team, even though she had to withdraw due to an injury.
Bibiane joined Athletic from FFC Frankfurt to play for the reserve team ahead of the 2019/20 campaign and since then she gone on to consolidate her place in the first team. She made her debut under Ángel Villacampa on 11 October 2020 in an away match against Sevilla.
That same season, the tall defender, who is the great-granddaughter of former Lion Patxo Belausteguigoitia, rotated her time between the first team and the reserves. The following campaign she was sent out on loan to Valencia CF in the First Division.
This past summer, she earned her place in the pre-season and has played 17 league games (all of them as a starter with more than 1,500 minutes) and one Copa game.
A groin injury prevented her from playing in the last league game against Atlético, an issue that also stopped her from travelling to Australia to make an international debut.
