Jon Morcillo loaned to SD Amorebieta
The Lion moves to his hometown team, who are competing in LaLiga Hypermotion this season and play their home matches at Lezama
Jon Morcillo will spend the 2023/24 campaign on loan at second division outift SD Amorebieta. Athletic also have the option to trigger a one-year extension clause in Jon's contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season.
This will be the player's second loan spell away from Bilbao as he previously joined Real Valladolid halfway through the 21/22 season.
An Athletic-affiliated club, SD Amorebieta are in LaLiga Hypermotion, the second tier of Spanish football, for the second time in their history. Furthermore, they are currently playing their home matches at Lezama. Last Friday, the Blues drew 1-1 against Levante UD at the training centre in their campaign opener.
Jon Morcillo, 24, made his Athletic debut in 2020 and has racked up 54 appearances as a Lion since then. He was also part of the squad which lifted the Spanish Super Cup that same season.
