Head coach Ernesto Valverde reiterated that Athletic Club must make sure they dominate their fixtures at San Mames.
The Lions have a decent track record in Bilbao so far this campaign with their only loss at The Cathedral in 2023/24 coming against Real Madrid in the season opener.
"It's a match against an opponent that is quite similar to us," the gaffer said in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of Sunday's LaLiga clash with Valencia CF (18:30 CET).
"Valencia had a difficult experience here last year, but they will have learned their lessons. They're enthusiastic and approach matches well.
"We want to stand out and keep moving up the table. We have to try to impose our style here at San Mames."
Athletic's form this campaign has impressed Valverde, who believes the team is "making progress", especially in the final third.
He said: "We're more decisive when it comes to our finishing. We're keeping our focus well in favourable situations.
"I think we've also shown we can withstand pressure, which shows how confident we are. But we have to be consistent and keep fighting every Sunday."
