Beñat Prados commits to Athletic Club until 2031
The midfielder extends his agreement for six seasons, demonstrating his strong sense of loyalty to the Lions
Athletic Club midfielder Beñat Prados has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him in Bilbao until 30 June 2031.
The midfielder, who made 33 appearances in first season as a Lion, has extended his previous contract by six seasons.
The signing took place this morning at San Mamés alongside club president Jon Uriarte, minutes before it was announced to the 200 Athleticzales gathered at 'Geuria!', the stadium's inbuilt sports bar.
Beñat Prados had an excepetional debut campaign, playing in several positions and establishing himself as become a crucial player in Ernesto Valverde's system.
Prados played more than 2,000 minutes throughout the season, and was the third most used footballer in the historic cup run. Beyond his overall performances, he won the vital penalty which allowed Athletic to seal a 0-1 victory in the semi-final away leg against Atlético Madrid.
After coming to Lezama from UDC Txantrea at under-14 level, Prados advanced through the ranks quickly. He made 69 appearances for Bilbao Athletic, before a fruitful loan spell at CD Mirandés, where he featured in 41 matches.
In his first opportunity at the top, Beñat has displayed his potential and is making excellent progress in the elite.
The player's new contract has a fixed salary structure and bonuses based on objectives.
