Berenguer signs three-year extension at Athletic Club

Alex Berenguer and Athletic Club have reached an agreement for the continuity of the winger, who was due to finish his contract this season, until 30 June 2027. Ibaigane has secured three more years to count on the red and white striker, who has averaged 7 goals and 42 appearances in his four seasons as a Lion.

The player from Barañain, signed in October 2020 from Torino FC, has sealed his continuity after an unforgettable year, in which he has been the centre of attention for two penalties in the Copa, in the first leg of the semi-final at the Metropolitano against Atlético that led to a 1-0 win, and the decisive penalty in the shoot-out in the final against RCD Mallorca, thanks to which the Lions were able to take out La Gabarra 40 years later. He is a player with great charisma among the San Mames fans.

The eleventh outfield player in minutes in this season's league competition, Berenguer has scored seven goals in the tournament, just one less than his best tally, in the year of his debut. In line with the Club's policy, the contract has a variable component based on objectives.
