“Pacho” Maturana to attend Thinking Football 2024

On Wednesday 20th, at the Sala BBK, the former Colombia footballer and head coach will take part in a Q&A session after the screening of ‘Colombia: Camino a la gloria’

Francisco “Pacho” Maturana, considered one of the most influential characters in the history of Colombian football, will attend this year's edition of Thinking Football 2024.

Maturana will take part in a Q&A session after the screeing of ‘Colombia: Camino a la gloria’ (Colombia: Road to Glory), directed by Luis Ara, which will be shown at the Sala BBK on Wednesday November 20, at 20:00 CET.

Tickets for the screening are already sold out, but you can reserve free tickets to attend other screenings HERE

The documentary, an original product of the streaming service ViX, chronicles the period between 1994 and 2001, years in which Colombian football achieved a great series of triumphs, including a historic 5-0 win over Argentina to secure qualification for the 1994 World Cup.

Director Luis Ara not only relives memorable moments in Colombian football, but also talks about the political and social complexity of Colombia in the 1990s. External pressures and serious threats from the Colombian mafia ended with the side's poor performance in the United States, and eventually led to the assassination of young defender Andrés Escobar.

Now legendary names in Colombian football such as Francisco Maturana, Víctor Aristizabal, Adolfo Valencia, Carlos Valderrama, Gabriel Gómez, Andrés Orozco, Mauricio Molina, Óscar Córdoba and Mario Yepes tell how a people and a team united under the dream of their national team, and how football brought peace in times of extreme conflict in the country.
