Nico Williams puts signature to his strong Athletic bond

The charismatic winger signs an agreement in San Mames until 2035 with the idea of "continuing to make history with the club of my life"

Nico Williams wants to continue making history with Athletic Club. The winger today put pen to paper on a contract extension until 30 June 2035, the longest deal in the first team.

It add eight years to his previous agreement and the winger officially signed his new deal this afternoon alongside Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte, director of football Mikel González, and his brother and captain, Iñaki Williams. His mother, María Arthuer, ambassador during Athletic Club's 125th anniversary, and his friends, who had a surprise gift for him in the form of a painting, were also there.

Nico was delighted, constantly smiling at the event, in which Athletic WIN (Williams, Iñaki and Nico) played an important role.

Athletic has launched a new AC line shirt inspired by the WIN concept which reflects the triumph of our model against the powerful offers of other clubs.

The protagonist of the day highlighted that "we have very ambitious titles at stake, such as the Champions League. What better than to do it with the club of my life. I would like to continue making history here at San Mames, with the fans and with my family".

He also had words of thanks for his brother Iñaki: "We have both always dreamed of this moment, my brother is a reference point for everyone and above all for me. I think he's the best man to be captain. I'm looking forward to seeing him wearing the armband for a long time."

To finish, Nico sent a message to the Athleticzale family: "I hope to respond to with everything they have given me, I hope to make them enjoy themselves like always. This is also for them. I've always felt a lot of affection towards me, I'm very proud of the fans I have."

Nico Williams' contract renewal, given that he is one of the most universally recognised players in the club's history, has offered a huge boost to Athletic's current footballing project.

Following in the footsteps of Iñaki, who in 2019 extended his contract until 2028, the continuity of the younger brother is an uplift to Athletic's morale and global standing in what's set to be very exciting year, with our return to the Champions League after an 11-season absence, a competition in which both players will compete for the first time.
