Clara Pinedo renews contract until 2030

The Bilbao-born attacking midfielder has put pen to paper on a four-year deal

Athletic Club midfielder Clara Pinedo has signed a new contract, which will keep her at Lezama until 30 June 2030.

The 22-year-old, a world and European champion at international youth level, is one of the most promising players in the first-team squad and has made great strides since her senior debut in June 2021.

Pinedo officially signed her new deal at San Mames alongside club president Jon Uriarte and Athletic's women's director of sport, Xabi Arrieta.

"Renewing my contract with Athletic Club was the only option for me. Wearing this shirt is something unique and special that I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl," Clara said about her new deal.

"I’m at home and close to my family and friends, which is also important to me. Having played over a hundred matches fills me with pride. The club has always believed in me, and committing to another four years is my way of showing my gratitude."

The academy graduate joined from Bizkerre FT during the 2019/20 season. Despite her young age, she is already one of the longest-serving players in the squad and this season she  passed the 100-game mark as a Lioness. From her 117 appearances so far, Clara has scored a total of 21 goals, establishing herself as a key player in attack.

This season, she was unable to play until the eighth match of the league campaign due to sustaining a shoulder injury which required surgery in the final pre-season fixture, but she is now a regular on Javi Lerga’s teamsheet.
