Athletic to play Atalanta BC for Trofeo Bortolotti

Athletic Club will face Atalanta BC at the Stadio di Bergamo on Friday 14 August at 20:45 CEST.

This fixture, our eighth warm-up match of the pre-season, is part of the Trofeo Bortolotti, a friendly tournament the Italian team has organised since 1992 in memory of its former presidents, Achille and Cesare Bortolotti.

It's the latest addition to a packed pre-season schedule and follows friendlies already arranged against SD Leioa, Sestao River Club, SD Eibar, Racing Club Santander, Burgos CF and the recently announced Olympique de Marseille, in addition to Wednesday 0-3 win over CD Derio.
 

Maurizio Sarri at the helm

After finishing fifth in Serie A last season, the Nerazzurri decided to bring Raffaele Palladino’s tenure to an end and hand the reins to Maurizio Sarri, former coach of Juventus, Napoli, Chelsea and Lazio, amongst others. Next season, Atalanta will compete in the UEFA Conference League. 

Atalanta met Athletic in last season's Champions League group phase. The Zurigorri produced an unforgettable performance in Bergamo, winning 2-3 thanks to goals from Robert Navarro, Gorka Guruzeta and Nico Serrano.
