Copa 2026/27 first-round draw

Athletic Club will discover their first 2026/27 Copa del Rey opponent on Monday. It's the start of a new adventure for the Lions, who will face a lower-division opponent in the first round, with the draw also subject to geographical proximity. 

Among the 56 first-round ties to be drawn, the subsequent single-leg knockout fixtures will be played at the stadium of the club competing in a lower division.

The Lions therefore have four potential opponents in the Copa first round. The winners from the previous round: Calatayud, CF San Rafael v AE Prat (depending on the second leg result) or CD Anaitasuna, whilst the final option is Sestao River, who have come through from the Copa Federación.

Of the 116 clubs taking part in the competition, 112 will be in action at this stage, whilst the four teams involved in the Spanish Super Cup (FC Barcelona, Real Sociedad, Real Madrid CF and Atlético de Madrid) will begin their campaign in the round of 32.
