Real Sociedad - Athletic Club

After playing against Sevilla at San Mames last week, Athletic Club Women travelled to Donostia to take on Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena for Matchday 24 of Liga F. It was a match of two halves which ended in a draw with goals from Nerea Eizagirre and Naia Landaluze.

Little happened during the first half. In the 10th minute Marta Unzué brought down Amaiur inside the area and the referee awarded a penalty which Txuriurdin captain Nerea Eizaguirre then converted. But apart from that there were few chances in the first 45 minutes.

The second half, however, was a completely different story. After the restart, Naia Landaluze equalised acrobatically, with a bit of help from the post, in the 49th minute. It was the youngster's first goal at senior level.

After the equaliser, Athletic enjoyed their best spell at the Reale Arena. Azkona almost connected with a cross from Zubieta and Amezaga was incisive on the left flank. For la Real, Amaiur tested the Lionesses' defence twice.

The game had more pace and there was action in both boxes. Azkona almost made it 1-2 in the 76th minute. The forward rounded Lete but her shot went just wide of an empty goal.

In the final stretch, the Lionesses defended well and tried everything to get the three points. Pinedo tried her luck with a shot from outside the box. Real Sociedad's Allegra Poljak also missed a chance in stoppage time and Arana had one final opportunity to gift Athletic the win.
