Athletic Club defeated APOEL FC 3-2 in the first leg of the UEL round of 32 at San Mamés. Balenziaga, Aduriz and Williams scored for our team while Efrem and Gianniotas scored the Cypriots’ goals.

The match can be summed up quite simply: Athletic’s absolute superiority, the ability to come back from a goal down, good play and tremendous effectiveness from the visitors to stay alive in the play-offs.

The endless list of Athletic Club’s chances will be secondary, as the return leg will be totally different, although let’s hope that the results obtained will be greater than those obtained with today’s more than deserved goals.

And between the two games another difficult test awaits us in LaLiga, with a visit to Valencia, where Ernesto Valverde will have the honour of becoming the coach who has coached Athletic Club in the most official matches.
