Vice-president of Athletic Club, Carmelo Canales, is satisfied at the time of making a brief balance of the recently celebrated Day of the Club against Real Madrid. The mentioned sensation is based on two reasons: ‘It’s about the team feeling the necessary enthusiasm that helped it win; and that the Club received a well needed injection to the budget. It can be said that we have fulfilled both objectives ‘.

According to Canales ‘the behavior of those gathered this past Saturday in San Mamés was simply impressive and the team appreciated the nonstop support they received from the stands.’

As for sales, Canales indicated ‘it has been over 1’1 million euros, which perfectly fits the budgetary parameters. As can be verified in the budget that members approved in the last Ordinary Meeting, in the epigraph ‘Income Sport Competitions’, where 2.164.000 euros are collected for the 2003-2004 season, and the budget estimate that we had for the Day of the Club was 50% of the total, 1.082.000 euros, to be precise’.

Finally, in the opinion of Carmelo Canales, the previously stated represents ‘the confirmation of our bet to consolidate stable income, mainly if we consider that the budget for income in sport competitions has increased by 24%, with respect to the previous exercise’.
