Promotional Campaign of Scholastic Female Football

Lezama was the chosen scenario for the second youth training, which is part of the Promotional Campaign of Scholastic Female Football, an initiative of the Biscayan Football Federation (FVF), which has the endorsement of Biscay’s Regional Council and in which Athletic Club collaborates by providing the pitch. Almost fifty players enjoyed the two-hour training, in which they perfected such technical aspects as: control of the ball, head shots and driving the ball. Lead by Txabo Aragues and monitors Arantza Gondra, Irantzu Causo, Ainhoa Jaio and Ivonne Mendive, all of them licensed by the IVEF, Teaching and Nursing; the forty five players were divided into four groups, in preparation to celebrate a series of friendly matches between them, on 23 May. However, the surprise came in the last half hour of training, when Athletic Club’s players finished their training and, as had been arranged by the red-and-white technicians and the School coordinator, the first team players made a series of exercises and games with the ball with the novices, who enjoyed a training session with some of their idols. Thus, the goalkeepers were paired up and the rest were distributed to play short matches with the students. At the end of the session, the red-and-white players were there for the usual photograph and signing of autographs, as well as to transmit encouragement to the concentrated youngsters.
