Urzaiz’ 400th Match Kit

Beginning today, the Trophies and Exhibition Hall (San Mamés Stadium, Gate 26) will have on display the kit used by Ismael Urzaiz on the day he played his 400th match with Athletic Club, which was disputed in Mallorca on 7 January. The Navarrese forward scored two of the three goals Athletic tallied in that encounter against the vermilion team (Mallorca 1-Athletic Club 3).
Urzaiz’ kit is displayed next to the first official Athletic Club uniform, the white and blue jersey, the oldest football article of clothing preserved in the Spain State and worn by Irishman Juan Moser in 1902.

It is “a great pride” to have reached the 400-match mark for the player from Tudela, for the simple fact of having shared the space with other historic Club players.

With Urzaiz’ kit, there are now ten uniforms on display in the Trophy Room, a collection through which the visitor can observe how the team’s kits have evolved from its origins to the present.
