Athletic Club’s Premier team had their last training session in Vienna, to be precise in the Franz-Horr Stadium, at 19:00 hours on Tuesday 2 December. The Red-Whites did diverse warm-up exercises, then ran around the field and finally, in the absence of the media and fans, a game, but only on half the pitch, the excuse being that they wanted to protect the lawn so only one of the goals could be used.
As something always happens in Vienna, Athletic Club upon arrival found out about the Austrians’ intentions of not allowing either of the goal areas to be used for practice, which undermines the significance of doing any training, especially when it comes to getting used to the pitch regarding strategic moves. The UEFA Delegate was approached and finally the delegate ordered that at least one could be used.
Following the training session, Coach Joaquín Caparrós and Captain Joseba Etxeberria offered a press conference. The temperature, on the other hand, in Vienna is getting colder and at training time it was four degrees.
