On Tuesday, 8 June in the Ibaigane press room, Athletic Club Board member Carlos del Campo and NGO Rais Euskadi Director, Mikel Barturen, presented the “II State Street Football Championship for the Homeless”.

The championship has been organized by the NGO Rais Euskadi, whose objective is the integration of people, who are socially excluded or in danger of becoming so, into society and the workforce. One of their programs, interactive leisure time has a fundamental role, as it stems from the fact that occupying these people’s free time helps them to improve their self-esteem and facilitates their integration into society.

The Championship will be played on 12 June (Saturday) at the Sports facilities in Lezama, from 11:00 to 19:00 hours, with the inauguration taking place at 10:30 hours.

Teams participating in the championship come from the programs that the Rais Foundation has throughout Spain, and will be representing cities such as Donostia, Madrid, Valencia, Alcobendas-Móstoles, Murcia, Seville and Bilbao. Also, apart from the teams made up of homeless people several sponsor teams will be taking part in the championship, in order to maximize social integration.

The Athletic Club Fundazioa Foundation is collaborating with the championship by lending them their sporting facilities in Lezama, as well as helping Rais Euskadi to organize such an event.
