Another landslide victory for the rojiblancas

Referee: Ferrer Collado, David; assisted on the sidelines by Ramo Andrés, Armando and Germán Varcalcel, Enrique. The referee booked Jamila, Nely, and Alberto Berna and sent off the Prainsa goalkeeper’s coach.

Incidents: Pedro Sancho Ground; 300 spectators; the honorary kick-off was taken by the national team’s water polo silver medallist, Andrea Blas.

Athletic continues their winning streak to carry forward the initial matches of the 12-13 season. Three goals by Erika, two by Nekane and one by Ibarra gave the second victory to Juanlu Fuentes’s girls that have already scored 11 goals in two matches.

After the first minutes of equality between both teams, Athletic had the first occasion in the minute 8, but Erika’s shot was off target. Two minutes later Gurutze forced Jamila to make a magnificent intervention. The goalie deflected a goal attempt by Erika in the 13th. The rojiblancas opened the scoreboard in the 25th when Erika, who had problems with her boots during the first quarter hour of the match, took advantage of a pass between the lines to score the first goal.
In a perfect play at first touch, Athletic increased their advantage. Eunate sent the ball to Erika; the Navarrese counted on Gurutze to dribble past Jamila.

The locals reduced the distance in a play down the left wing by Sara and Nuria, near the far post, sent the ball into Ainhoa’s goal. Nevertheless, the rojiblancas did not allow for uncertainty to take charge of the match and Nekane’s 1-3 ended all chances for Prainsa to overcome the rojiblanca advantage; Eunate infiltrated down the left, and from the goal line passed to Nekane who scored the third. Before reaching the interval, Erika closed off her scoring abilities with a goal similar to her first; new pass between the lines and after the local goalie deflected the shot on goal, the ball ended up in the heart of the goalmouth.

In the second half, Erika once again demonstrate her abilities by launching a ball that ended up in Jamila’s left post. Nekane, with her left, placed the ball outside of Jamila’s reach to score the fifth. The rojiblancas lowered their intensity and in the final moments, Ibarra scored the sixth in the last minute of the match.
