After a 10-year-journey the Athletic Club Museum has closed prior to the imminent demolition of San Mamés.
It’s been 10 years rich in experiences in which we’ve enjoyed different aspects of Athletic Club’s history. Along with the permanent exhibition, with pieces such as the first official jerseys or titles, the temporary exhibitions have given us the opportunity to dig deeper into Mister Pentland or Pichichi’s personalities, or in aspects such as the anthem, the greeting of the barge, or San Mamés.
It’s been 10 years with continued attendance growth, in which we’ve gone from nearly 11,000 visitors in 2003-04 to over 60,000 currently. There have been hundreds of Biscayans that pride themselves with a photograph next to the lion in the San Mamés gallery.
The moment has come to end this historic period and continue to excitedly work in the challenge that emerges before us at the location in the new stadium; the objective is to create an Athletic Club Museum at the height of the extraordinary history of our organization and of those that have made it possible: the players, technicians, managers and, of course, our fans and followers.
