Visit to Cayos Cochinos

Yesterday we had the day off and were taken to Cayos Cochinos. Impressive! They took us on a 45-minute boat ride and we were able to enjoy the beaches by swimming in the crystalline waters. We were back in Jutiapa early in the afternoon. We were able to tour the town by ourselves, as in the day the streets are safer.

Today we have had a double session and visited the cocoa exploitation agricultural project where its elaboration procedures were explained to us. In order to obtain the desired quality of cocoa they have been training farmers in the area for many years. We have had the opportunity of tasting pure cocoa and we were struck by how bitter it is.

Tomorrow we will finish the training sessions at this school of Jutiapa, as we will be transferring to others in the area. During these days we’ve seen how the children must clean and sweep up the school before classes begin the little that boys and girls interact and the great respect they have toward the director.

With regards to the trainings, we are quite pleased since, in this short time, we have seen great improvement in their quality. The behaviour and discipline that we’ve seen in the last few days in all the children is far better than when we began.
