Three goals by Mora, Juli and Garcia in the only three shots on goal by Deportivo Alavés in the whole match, closed a 3-0 in Mendizorroza which prevents Bilbao Athletic from begin the New Year with a better face.

On the quarter hour, Sergio Mora picked up a rebound from a corner to open the marker and the blanquiazules concentrated on defending quite orderly and without hardships waiting for any mistake by the rival. The first error came ten minutes later, in a free kick that Alavés took rather quickly surprising the cubs. Juli hooked an amazing right straight into the corner of the net. With half the second half gone, the referee called a debatable penalty which Manu García converted.

It’s a bulky final score for a Bilbao Athletic that never gave up trying and that placed endless balls in the rival’s area, but that did not have the skill or the luck to at least score the honour goal. Next Sunday we must try again in San Mamés against Albacete.
