Travelling BertsoDerbia

Athletic Club Fundazioa has organized the seventh edition of BertsoDerbia with the collaboration of the Real Sociedad Fundazioa. Coinciding with the derby to be disputed in San Mamés between Athletic Club and Real Sociedad on Sunday, 21 February, this year’s BertsoDerbia will be an innovative edition, since it will be held as an open street event.

From 12:00 hours and parting from Plaza Nueva, the four participating bertsolaris (improvisational poets), Andoni Egaña, Jone Uria, Amets Arzallus and Igor Elortza will initiate a travelling BertsoDerbia as they will later also perform at Calle del Perro, Somera and Plaza Unamuno. On their route they will be accompanied by the musical group Oxabi.

As usual, BertsoDerbia is an attempt to unite sport and culture; to achieve this, on this occasion we are hoping to add some extra ambiance to the pre-match celebration in the streets with a ‘word fest’.

BertsoDerbia is a joint effort of the Real Sociedad and Athletic Club Foundations to promote healthy rivalry, grounded in the belief that beyond the sporting rivalry we are united by sport and culture alike.
