In the afternoon of Tuesday, October 10, a new edition of Literature and Football has been presented, the literature and football meetings organized by the Athletic Club Foundation and the Foral Library. The presentation consisted of a meeting with author David Safier, in San Mamés VIP Area, who has talked about literature, football and humor with journalist Txani Rodríguez.
Before, the Athletic Club manager and patron of the Athletic Club Foundation, Jokin Garatea, has make a breakdown what will be this 2017 edition of Letters and Football.

It will be held on 20, 21, 27 and 28 November in the Sala Noble of the Regional Library of Bizkaia. This year, the participants will be Jonathan Wilson, Michael Calvin, Sid Lowe, Miqui Otero, Laura Fernandez, Jon Maia, Juan Luis Zabala, Gari, Miguel Angel Ortiz or Belén Gopegui, who will discuss the relationship between football and literature and, also, with the contemporary society, from different perspectives and approaches.

On the other hand, Literature and Football 2017 will have this year with the Athletic Club of Reading, a campaign of promotion of the Reading that the Foundation has launched annually for three years. It is an initiative through which anyone can suggest through the web Literature and Football reading a book to Athletic players. Of all the suggestions received, each player chooses one and from that election, the Foundation organizes a reading club. This year adds the news that the AC of reading extends throughout the season, as players will be announced one by one in the coming months. Finally, on the occasion of Literature and Football, the story ‘Replay’, written for the occasion by David Safier in the center of the San Mamés field will be edited and of which 20,000 copies will be distributed in Bilbao from November 13, in libraries, bookstores and other spaces.
Literature and Football is organized by the Athletic Club Foundation and the Bizkaia Regional Library and has the main sponsorship of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Euskaltel and the sponsorship of Hotel Meliá, BCD Travel and the Reading and Book Observatory Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
