To quarterfinals after the penalty round

Athletic Club has made it to the quarterfinals of the “Copa de la Reina” after beating Betis in the penalty round. The home team took the lead with three goals by Priscila, but the two goals of Nekane and the third one of Garazi forced the extra time.

The early stages of the play-off were for the zurigorri team, who approached Erina’s penalty area with danger. However, Priscila’s long-range shot made the local team take the lead.

With the minimum advantage in the scoreboard, Joseba Agirre’s team reaction has not arrived and Betis took advantage of it to increase their lead with two more goals form Priscilia. Even though, the Athletic has not come down and in a centre to the area, Nekane has opened the way for the comeback. Two minutes later, Nekane appeared again to finish off a free-kick from the left. The comeback was completed thanks to a penalty shot by Garazi.

With no goals in the extra time, during the penalty round A. Sierra and V. Gimbert failed to score, while Priscilia scored for the locals and Ainhoa stopped Ana González’s shot. Damaris, Leia and Marta Unzué were able to score from the eleven meters. Although Paula scored for the Sevillian team, Ainhoa became the hero by stopping the throws of Rocío and Van Dongen and getting the pass to the quarterfinals.
